What is Thursday Dinner?
A time for a group of friends (mainly old school FSA) to get together and have dinner.
How does Thursday Dinner work?
We paired off at the start and set a rotation. Each week is one couple’s duty to prepare and serve food to the rest of the group. The group could consist of as small as 6 or as much as 16. Regardless, you must prepare! The initial rules were set to be: 1) homecooked food only with the exception of “busy weeks”, 2) the pair in order for the subsequent week must provide dessert for the current week, 3) you cannot repeat a dish that has already been made.
Are there exceptions to the rules?
Being so many weeks in rotation, the rules are unofficially amended. We have since run out of dish ideas, so repeats are necessary. Also, if a partner is out of town or we know upcoming weekend travels are upon a majority of the group, we end up postponing -OR- go to a restaurant to eat.
What is the point?
To keep in touch, stay connected, and provide company to know we are not alone (in San Antonio). Also…although you may cook one week for 16 people and the cost of food is outrageous, you have the comfort of knowing the next 3+ weeks are covered by someone else.
