If you haven’t used Priceline.com, you’re missing out on life and about 30-50% savings on a hotel room.
Examples:
- Hotel Derek – orig. $150/nt – winning bid incl. tax $78/nt
- Intercontinental – orig. $95/nt – winning bid incl. tax $67/nt
- Holiday Inn near the Galleria – orig. $79/nt – winning bid incl. tax $46/nt
- Omni Hotel Austin – orig. $150/nt – winning bid incl. tax $53/nt
The downer: you cannot choose which hotel you want, just the general location and star value. In the end, you have a pretty nice hotel and extra cash in your pocket.
I noticed a 5-star level was added to the Galleria area. Rumors say those hotels consist of St. Regis and Hotel Granduca. How grand. Those rooms are minimum $150/nt. Is it even worth it? Only for a special occasion weekend.
So my birthday… it’s on July 25th AKA end of July. Upcoming events after that weekend consist of a bachelorette party in Vegas ($$$) and rearranging of the roommate situation (+$$ rent). Not sure if I will have any spare funds to do a lakehouse party like I envisioned. The cost of that is minimum 2 nights, minimum $300/nt, and limited occupancy as a rule set by nearly all owners.
Positively, I don’t have to be hungover for my cousin’s wedding.
I’ll keep everyone posted on birthday plans. It’s only 24 after all. I keep thinking of saving the big shebang for 2-5.
This past weekend was definitely unique but brought back the old days. We went to Block 21 to celebrate Chase’s birthday. Pretty much realized it would be a chill night so we made an attempt to drink too much to rid of that idea. It worked. Ended up at Tan Tan to top off the night. Saturday was Roxy. What a throwback. Roxy is now remodeled, still 18+, $10 cover, and cheap drinks. Again, drank away the night just cause it was the first “reunion” of the summer crew that used to be a couple years ago. Traditionally ended the night at Denny’s meadows. What a great weekend.
